Skills in Unique AI Conduct

6 min read

Overview

Skills are reusable instructions, templates, and supporting files that teach your Unique AI Conduct agent a workflow. Conduct already includes several default skills such as for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF document generation. Your organization as well as each individual user can add its own.

When a space has skills set up, the agent loads the skills configured for that space and applies a matching one on its own. In the chat, + then Skills shows that set. Settings → Skills shows every skill you can see, including skills this space is not set up to use.

Who is it for?

Anyone using a Unique AI Conduct space.

How skills work

  1. Your admin chooses a root skills folder for the space, and can attach further folders whose existing skills are also loaded. How that is configured is in Skills Management in Unique AI Conduct.

  2. At session start the agent loads the skills it is allowed to use.

  3. When you send a task, the agent follows a skill whose purpose matches the task.

Describe the task and the agent applies the skill that matches it, from the skills this space is set up to use. To force triggering one of those skills, click + and choose Skills, or name it in your message.

Find and open a skill

Skills in this chat

In a Conduct chat, click + under the message box, then Skills. The same list appears when you type / in the message. Choosing a name inserts /skill-name.

That list is the skills this space is set up to use. Your admin chooses them in the space configuration. Another space can show a different list.

Skills in Settings

Open in the profile menu Settings, then Skills. This list is every skill you can see: personal, team, and company. It is not limited to the space you have open.

Use search, or filter by All, Personal, Team, or Company. Each row shows the skill name, its type, where it sits, and when it was last updated. Open a row to read the skill. A skill in this list runs in a Conduct space only when an admin has included its folder on that space. Seeing it in Settings does not make the space you are in use it.

What you can do from Settings

  • Create opens a Conduct chat with the prompt “Create a new skill”. Explain the purpose of the skill and when it should be triggered. The agent then creates a skills and saves it as a personal skill. Only you will have access to this skill. The Create button stays disabled when none of your spaces allow new personal skills.

  • Use in chat opens a chat in a space that includes that skill. If the space you are in does not include it, you are taken to one that does. If none of your spaces include it, you see “No space can use this skill.”

  • Edit with chat is available on your personal skills. It opens a new chat that asks the agent to edit that skill. Team and company skills do not offer this action. Asking the agent in conversation to change a shared skill still saves a private copy for you, and leaves the shared skill as it is.

  • View in knowledge base appears when you already have access to the knowledge base. It opens the skill’s file there.

Personal, team, and company skills

A skill can have one of three types in Settings:

  • Personal — created and saved by you. Only you see it. It does not change the skill your colleagues use.

  • Team — shared with a team. Your admin maintains it.

  • Company — shared across the company. Your admin maintains these.

When two skills of different layers share a name, the more specific one is the one you get. Your personal skill wins over a team skill, and a team skill wins over a company skill. A built-in skill is used when none of those is present. Two people in the same space can therefore see a different skill under the same name.

Saving a skill of your own

Shared skills are created and maintained by your administrators.

If Personal skills creation is on for a space, you can save your own skills in that space:

  • Save a workflow. After a task you expect to repeat, ask the agent to save it as a skill. It confirms with you before saving.

  • Change how a skill works for you. Ask the agent to change it, or use Edit with chat on a personal skill. You get a private version. The shared skill is left untouched.

Anything you save is private to you and is loaded in later sessions in that space. You do not need an admin to add it.

If your admin turns Personal skills creation off, you cannot save a new personal skill in that space, and Create in Settings stays unavailable when no other space of yours still allows it. Skills you already saved stay in Settings and the agent still uses them.

For how a skill file is written, see agentskills.io.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which skills this space can use?
In that chat, click +, then Skills. That list is the skills configured for this space. Settings → Skills is the wider catalog of skills you can see. A skill in Settings runs here only when this space includes its folder.

Can I create my own skills?
Yes, when Personal skills creation is on for a space you use. Use Create in Settings, or ask the agent to save a workflow. It confirms with you before saving. The skill is private to you.

If I change a skill, does that affect my colleagues?
No. A change you save is your personal copy. The shared skill is unchanged.

I turned off personal skill creation and an old skill disappeared.
It should not. Turning that switch off stops new personal skills. Skills already saved stay available to the person who saved them. If one is missing, check the Personal filter in Settings, or ask your admin whether the space still loads the root skills folder.

Why am I asked to pick a template every time?
Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents are built on the templates your admin keeps in the knowledge base, and which one fits depends on the request, so the choice is confirmed each time. The agent proposes the most likely template. Excel workbooks are not built from a template.

The template I want isn’t in the list.
The list shows the templates you can access in your organization’s templates folder. Attach your own file, or name the knowledge base folder that holds the template. If a template should be available to everyone, ask your admin to add it to the templates folder.

Why did the agent produce a different format than I expected?
A skill may have applied a template or a fixed format. Say what you want instead, for example “Don’t use a template — just give me the raw data in a CSV.”

Do skills slow down the agent?
There is a short setup step when a session starts, and skills are cached after that. A skill then saves the agent from rebuilding the workflow each time.

Do skills persist between sessions?
Yes. They live in the knowledge base and are loaded into every session. When an admin updates a shared skill, a later message picks up that version.
