Use Unique AI Tools

Unique AI Tools — Learn how to use the Tools menu to ground AI responses in your documents, live web data, deep research, or code execution.
Overview
The Tools menu gives you direct control over what information Unique AI draws on when answering your questions. Instead of relying on the default AI's broad range of data, you can point it to specific internal documents, live web results, or let it run a full research plan — so every response is grounded in the sources that actually matter to you.
Four tools are currently available: Internal Knowledge Search, Web Search, Deep Research, and Code Execution. New tools are added regularly, including through MCP integrations.
Who is this for?
Role | How they benefit |
|---|---|
Business Analysts | Query and analyze proprietary company data. |
Researchers | Synthesize findings from academic papers or pull the latest public data from the web. |
Financial Advisors | Query the latest market trends, earnings reports, and company filings in real time. |
Legal Professionals | Review case files, contracts, or legal documentation and ask targeted questions about their content. |
Benefits
Why use tools? Narrowing the AI's focus to specific sources significantly reduces off-topic answers, surfaces deeper insights, and saves time by eliminating manual research and synthesis.
Benefit | What it means for you |
|---|---|
Better accuracy | Narrowing the AI's focus to specific sources significantly reduces off-topic or inaccurate answers. |
More relevant responses | The AI uses exactly the data you provide, so answers are directly applicable to your task. |
Faster results | No need to manually search and synthesize information — the AI does the heavy lifting for you. |
Deeper insights | The AI can surface connections across your documents that would be easy to miss manually. |
Time saving | Get to the answers you need faster by directing the AI to the correct information source from the outset. |
Use cases
Use case | Example prompt |

Market research | "What are the latest trends in enterprise AI adoption? Use web search." |
Internal policy query | "What is our company's remote work policy?" or "Summarize the Q2 2025 sales report." |
Step-by-step guide
Follow these steps to activate and use any tool in the Unique AI chat interface.

Open the Tools menu — click the “+” icon the chat input field.
Select your tool — choose from Internal Knowledge Search, Web Search or Deep Research.
If using Internal Search — the context window automatically opens on your right sidebar and you choose the specific document folder(s) or file(s) you want the AI to search within.

Type your prompt — enter your question as normal. The AI will use the selected tool and sources to generate its response.
Combine tools if needed — you can enable multiple tools at once. For example, select an internal document and also enable Web Search to cross-reference your internal data with the latest public information.
Tool reference
Tool | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
Internal Knowledge Search | Search files ingested into the Knowledge Base. Use "Select Files" to narrow the search to specific documents or folders. | Available |
Web Search | Perform live internet searches to retrieve up-to-date information beyond the AI's training data. | Available |
Deep Research | Combines web and internal search with extended reasoning to produce in-depth, report-style outputs. Runs for 5–15 minutes and shows progress steps as it works. | Available |
Code Execution | Writes and runs Python code in a secure sandbox. Upload files (CSV, Excel, PDF) and ask the AI to analyze, transform, or chart the data. Outputs render inline as downloadable cards. | Beta |

Tips & tricks
Tip | Details |
|---|---|
Write specific prompts | The right tool + a precise prompt gets the best results. Instead of "What are the risks?", try "Based on the 10-K filings, what are the top 5 risks mentioned for Alphabet and Microsoft?" |
Narrow your sources | If responses aren't on target, use "Select Files" to limit the search to a smaller, more relevant set of documents. |
Combine tools | Mix Internal Knowledge Search with Web Search to compare your internal data against the latest public information. |
Experiment | Try different tool combinations and prompt styles to find what works best for your workflow. |
Limitations
Summarization page limit: Summarization is limited to files of up to 50 pages. Quality may vary for dense or unstructured documents.
Token limit: Processing is capped at 30,000 tokens per conversation. Very large datasets or long conversations may be truncated.
